With Blue Lock phase 1 being done, I wonder how many other characters were in the wild card. Never cared that he left, but he's likely evolved in his mentality, as well as his skill, so at least there are new possibilities for his character now. I don't think he's quite on Rin's level yet, so I doubt this rivalry will be resolved any time soon. And Isagi is ready for it too, having enough confidence to accept the challenge. (Welcome to r/BlueLock) a subreddit dedicated to the Blue Lock series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Rin finally recognising Isagi as a proper rival is a new development in their relationship. He still intends to create the best striker of the lot and pit them against each other. And then there was the guy with the tattoo who looked like a player. The shots of all those scouts at the end seems to bode well as far as Blue Lock's future prospects. Not the perfect comparison but it reminds me of the Naruto and Sasuke dynamic and how it drove the storyline I think Isagi's and Rin's rivalry will still be very important to the rest of the story and this development is important for it not to be one-sided as it was before (only Isagi really cared about becoming better than Rin, Rin didn't even consider Isagi a threat). I think that isn't the character development we expected to see, but it makes sense in the narrative - it's setting up the classic shonen rivalry. What changed now is that he recognizes that Isagi isn't just another player to be destroyed in his path towards being recognized by his brother, but his main enemy ("his nemesis"). I think if Sae recognized him after the match, those words (that he wouldn't let his rivals hold him down) would be true - but since that didn't happen, Rin just doubled down on his brother complex. I don't think it went down the drain, it just didn't go as we expected after his awakening.
